Sculpture Workshops with Paula Whaley

Paula Whaley has previously held sculpture workshops with school children and elders, though separately. This time, with the help of MICA's Curatorial Practice MFA students, at Village Learning Place and the Living Well Art Studio, Paula will spend time with seniors and young people, giving them the opportunity to make art together. Participants will work together to create original figures, learn special techniques using clay and other materials, and build community relationships. *Participation for workshop at the Village Learning Center has already been filled. AKIMBO Performance

AKIMBO 2014 is the third annual festival of site-specific dance and movement art in Baltimore. AKIMBO features eighteen regional professional dance companies and movement artists from traditional to experimental, plus musicians and visual artists. Artist Talk with NETHER
Saturday, September 20, 1:00-3:00 PM Location Change! Riggs & Leidy Galleries, Lazarus IV Center, 132 W. North Avenue, Baltimore MD Street artist NETHER will host a conversation about his work for LOCALLY SOURCED and his previous murals in Baltimore, including his role as curator of Wall Hunters. Wall Hunters collaborators Shawniece Smith, local homeowner, and Carol Ott, Director of Housing Policy Watch at Baltimore Slumlord Watch, will join NETHER. The discussion will focus on their group partnership to create a mural on Smith’s home. Baltimoreans will have a chance to ask questions about NETHER's murals and to participate in the conversation.
